Spotify to shut down direct upload for artists

The company announced the change on Monday, saying it will close the beta program and stop accepting direct uploads by the end of July. -

So much for Spotify trying to become the YouTube for music. At least independent songwriters will still have Soundcloud and Bandcamp to upload their music to.
